Dr Alexie Papanicolaou's main interest is developing bioinformatics capability to address evolutionary questions such as how organisms adapt to a changing or novel environment and therefore works on the crux of biosecurity, climate adaptation and evolutionary biology.

Dr Papanicolaou joined the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, Australia in 2015 after previous positions in the CSIRO, the University of Exeter, his PhD research at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology, and his previous two research degrees at the University of Edinburgh.
